The NDS team heads back to Canary Wharf

As part of our ongoing works at Project Cargo – Canary Wharf, the NDS plant movement team had to strip out, remove various smoke extract and air relief fans as part of the fan replacement and upgrade works. Various circular fans with a gross weight of 600kg had to be plant moved from basement level, up to level 15, ready to be lifted.

The fans then had to be lifted up a further level to 16 using mobile lifting gantries and manual chain hoists.

Once the fans were on level 16 they were plant moved to various locations where lifting beams were installed and tested by NDS. The fans were lifted into final positions at high level on level 16 by NDS, using the lifting beams and manual chain hoists.

The plant movement works, installation and testing of the lifting beams was carried out by our specialist lifting and plant movement team. All lifting and plant movement works were carried out within the proposed timescales and programme constraints.
